About the Lodge

Our eco-lodge offers 9 cozy double cabins built with natural materials and inspired by the local architecture. Each cabin features a private bathroom, hot water and a spacious terrace overlooking the surrounding rainforest.

At the lodge restaurant, guests can enjoy delicious local and international cuisine. After dinner, relax by the fireplace and listen to the sounds of the forest, or enjoy a drink at the bar with a spectacular view of the river.

Together with our local guides, you can explore the primary rainforest on guided hikes and discover a variety of Amazon activities. For a slower experience, simply relax for a few peaceful hours in your hammock, surrounded by tropical vegetation on the balcony of your cabin.We look forward to welcoming you to the heart of the Amazon rainforest for an authentic and relaxing eco-lodge experience.

Activities

Activities during your stay at Liana Lodge can be chosen according to your specific needs and interests. Your personalized excursion program will be discussed and defined with you on the day of arrival.

Hikes and other activities in the forest and at local sites usually take place after breakfast, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and continue in the afternoon from 2:30 PM. Between activities, enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant and relax in your cabin.

Our experienced native guides come from the region and have extensive knowledge of the secrets of the rainforest, its flora and its fauna.

Hikes in the Rainforest

Ceibo

Hike through the rainforest to the impressive Ceibo tree.

Mirador

Hike through the rainforest to a scenic viewpoint (Mirador) overlooking part of Anaconda Island.

Río Rodríguez

Full-day rainforest hike to a crystal-clear river, with the possibility of taking a refreshing swim. A meal is served at Río Rodríguez.

Combine your adventure: These rainforest hikes can be combined with a visit to the amaZOOnico animal rescue center.

Excursions & Other Activities

amaZOOnico

Visit and enjoy a guided tour of the animal rescue center, a project of Selva Viva. You can reach the center by a short 20-minute forest hike or by canoe.

Anaconda Island

Walk across the island near the lodge and visit traditional plantations growing yucca, coffee, bananas, cacao, papaya and more. A visit to a local Kichwa family is available as an optional experience.

Fishing & Gold Panning

Learn how the Kichwa people traditionally pan for gold and use traditional fishing nets. Guests can also try both activities themselves.

Build a Traditional Raft

Build a traditional Kichwa raft with your guide using balsa wood, then enjoy floating down the river on your handmade raft.

Tubing Down the River

From Puerto Barantilla, float down the river on a tube and return to Liana Lodge surrounded by the rainforest.

Canoe Transfer

Our canoe will be waiting for you on the river shore at Puerto Barantilla at the agreed time, usually in the early afternoon. From there, we will take you downstream in a wide and safe motorized canoe to Liana Lodge.

From Tena, you can choose between two public bus services to reach Puerto Barantilla / Santa Rosa del Napo.

Option A — Centinela del Tena

The Centinela del Tena office is on the left when leaving the main terminal in Tena, approximately two blocks down the main street from Super Tía supermarket.

Option B — Jumandy

Destination Puerto Barantilla / Santa Rosa del Napo

Ticket $2 USD per person

Travel Time Approximately 1½ hours

The Jumandy office is on the right when leaving the main terminal in Tena, approximately one block down the main street from Super Tía supermarket.

Tell the bus driver: “Puerto Barantilla.” The bus stops approximately 30 meters from the river shore. A canoe will already be waiting to take you to Liana Lodge.
